Declaration¶

The thesis comprises only original work towards the PhD, except where indicated in the preface. Due acknowledgement has been made in the text to all other material used. The thesis is shorter than the maximum word limit in length, exclusive of tables, maps, bibliography and appendices. Rohan Byrne May 2021
